Howl break up & hang out with David Spade

Posted in News with tags on March 19, 2010 by keelykov

Here are some truth bombs. According to Ballarats wiki page, ‘dance parties are popular’ in the city but ballarat has been deemed “an inappropriate place to hold a rave” by the man, aka the city’s health service, also, the page tells me that ‘hotels are popular meeting places for young people’.

Now that we have a solid understanding of where they are from, say a big hi to Howl.

You boys are about to Baton Down The Hatches with Yacht Club Dj’s and DZ, what’s going to be the one thing about the show no one is going to want to miss?
John Farnham’s guest appearance singing Blackout.

I’ve heard Andrew W K learnt all his partying skills from Yacht Club and DZ, is there any fear about being out-partied on this tour? Or have you got a plan in action to make sure you come out on top?
Yacht club are too old to party. They both need glasses. Case in point. They think they got it all but they don’t, and we do. So dick with that attitude. Pinch punch captain crunch we got dick that you cant touch. Bang gang choo choo train wind me up we’ll do our thing. Thesis pieces seven up you mess with us we’ll mess you up. We know David spade.

Both you guys and Yacht Club Dj’s hail from Ballarat, what’s the live music scene like there?
The balls (good)

You brought your debut ep out in Feb, what’s the response been like so far?
I have no idea, someone said we sound like Silverchair on iTunes, so judging by that, just awful.

Any plans for an album in the works?
We broke up like two weeks ago man.

You were named Australia’s best high school band in 2009. You’ve left school, so what are you Australia’s best at now?
Nothing. We weren’t Australia best high school band in the first place.

Who would you most want to collaborate with?
Yacht Club and DZ

What’s the one thing about Howl that surprises the shit out of people?
We are a-sexual.

Catch the boys, their A-sexuality and John Farnham at the following shows:

Baton Down The Haches! Yacht Club DJ’s Ahoy!

Posted in News, Tours with tags , , on March 1, 2010 by keelykov

Crowd-pleasing mash-up duo the Yacht Club DJs are back after a string of manic music festival performances. Late last year, the pair took their infectious brand of sugar pop infused with hardcore, punk and hip hop mashes on the road, selling out their national Kleptomania Tour.

Heralded the saviours of the mash-up genre, this March the pair will emerge from playing underground club gigs and take their rightful place behind the decks in some of Australia’s foremost music venues.

Prepare to storm the stage as the Yacht Club DJs tear apart your favourite songs and smash them back together into a cleverly crafted remix.

And of course, a Yacht Club DJs show would not be complete without on-stage nudity, crowd invasions, dancing on the decks and wild water sports, including riding the waves of the crowd on an inflatable boat.

Ready to join the party is Brisbane monster duo DZ and young indie rockers Howl.

With a sound likened to The Bronx meets DFA 1979, DZ have turned heads with their refreshingly palatable gritty indie sound.

Triple J Unearthed High winners Howl have left the classroom, played summer festivals all over the country and released their debut EP, with their single Blackout receiving high rotation on Triple J. The fellow Ballarat act will promote their self-titled EP on the Batten Down the Hatches Tour.

Dz And Howl Tour Set To Be A Blood Bath

Posted in Australian Artists, Tours with tags , on December 8, 2009 by keelykov

I Hear Its Blood tour

The best high school band since the Zit Remedy, Howl and the boys from Brisbekistan, DZ are set to slay the east coast with their ‘I Hear It’s Blood’ tour in January 2010.

The ‘I Hear Its Blood’ tour will see the lads ruin lives across the country on five dates between January 8th and 15th.

DZ released their debut EP ‘Ruined My Life’ in 2009, lifting from it two singles, Teeth and Blue Blood, both of which have graced airwaves across the country.

But the boys are better known for their face melting live shows and their penchant for par-taying like its 1999,both characteristics they are sure to bring with them on the ‘I Hear its Blood’ tour.

Howl jettisoned to the radio waves after taking out Triple J Unearthed High earlier this year with their grungy yet 60’s tune ‘Blackout’.

Smashing their way out of Ballarat, Howl have packed their follow up single ‘I Hear It’s Love’ and are set to be badly influenced by DZ and the grimy rock and roll of the ‘I Hear its Blood’ tour.

Catch DZ and Howl at the following events:

FRIDAY 8TH JANUARY
KAROVA LOUNGE – BALLARAT (18+)

SATURDAY 9TH JANUARY
SANDCASTLES FESTIVAL – MELBOURNE (18+)

SATURDAY 9TH JANUARY
PLUS ONE @ ED CASTLE – ADELAIDE (18+) DZ only

FRIDAY 15TH JANUARY
TROUBADOUR – BRISBANE (18+)
