Wavves announces March headline shows

Wavves

Wavves, the musical outlet for the charmingly careless Nathan Williams, will be making his highly anticipated journey to Australia in March 2011 to play Golden Plains Festival and a string of freshly announced headline shows.

San Diego born and bred, Williams shot to prominence in 2009 when much to his amusement, the two lo fi punk rock albums he recorded at his parent’s house were quickly embraced and touted as “the next big thing” by online music critics and bloggers.

In 2010 Wavves released King of the Beach, an adventurous and ambitious record complete with Williams’ recognisable sunshiny melodies. The underlying theme of summer and boredom still remains, but unlike previously released material, King of the Beach was toiled over for three months in a studio by producer Dennis Herring (Modest Mouse, The Hives).

k-os announces Splendour side shows

Posted in Festivals, News, Tours with tags , on May 13, 2010 by keelykov

YEW! k-os will be returning to Australia to perform exclusive headline shows in Melbourne and Sydney this August alongside his Splendour in the Grass appearance.

k-os (also known as Kheaven Brereton) has enjoyed much acclaim from his fourth studio album Yes!, featuring guest appearances from Emily Haines of Metric & Murray Lightburn of The Dears. With it’s innovative sound, Yes! made waves with “4,3,2,1” (hip hop’s response to Feist’s “1,2,3,4”) and other standout tracks such as “Burning Bridges” “Uptown girl” and “Eye Know Something, which he performed at this year’s Vancouver Winter Olympic Games.

A Trinidad born and Toronto-raised musician, emcee and producer, k-os has been labelled as one of the most creative and intriguing artists in the hip hop realm and this multi-talented performer believes “Art should be like a comet. It should come out of nowhere and just smack people in the face” And his shows promise to do just that!

Tickets are on sale Wednesday 19th May.

Frightened Rabbit announce Splendour side shows

Posted in News, Tours with tags , on May 12, 2010 by keelykov

Frightened Rabbit are set to return to Australia this July/August to play Splendour In The Grass and have just announced rad headline side shows in Sydney and Melbourne.

This highly-anticipated tour follows the release of their universally acclaimed new album, ‘The Winter Of Mixed Drinks’.

Expertly produced by Peter Katis (The National, Interpol, Spoon), ‘The Winter Of Mixed Drinks’ follows the slow-burn classic, ‘The Midnight Organ Fight’, which emerged as a critical favourite in 2008 and made numerous “best of” lists including Pitchfork, NME, Magnet, Drowned In Sound and Australia’s own Music Network to name a few!

Last out for Laneway festival earlier this year, Frightened Rabbit are one stupidly awesome band not to be missed.

Check them out at the following dates:

Monday 2nd August – Hi-Fi, Melbourne
Tuesday 3rd August – Factory Theatre, Sydney
