New Video: The Temper Trap – Need Your Love

Posted in Australian Artists, New releases, News, Video with tags , , on April 16, 2012 by keelykov

The new video from Melbourne’s The Temper Trap is ass-kickingly awesome.

The immediate and uplifting anthem ‘Need Your Love‘ is set to a tale of triumph, tribulations and 80’s Bromance.

Picking up where Karate Kid leaves off, ‘Need Your Love’ proves that Johnny isnt as bad as he seemed and Mr Miyagi was, is and will always be a total boss.

APRA Song of the Year nominees announced

Tame Impala

Nominees for the highly coveted APRA Song Of The Year Award have been announced, pitting new generation artists against Australian music staples.

Including an Idol winner, APRA winners and Hottest 100 winners, the competition for the Song Of The Year gong is tougher than ever, however, a novelty remix still managed to find its way into the list – Pendulum’s ‘ABC TV News Theme (remix)’ .

While we admit the remix is a bangin’ tune and one of our favourite tracks from last year, it still seems like an odd inclusion alongside the likes of the late Rowland S Howard and Kasey Chambers.

One other issue with the announced nominees is that no Urban artists have made the cut this year – even though huge tracks were released from Aussie favourites Bliss N Eso and Drapht.

Along with the APRA Song Of The Year, this years’ awards will also include categories for Breakthrough Songwriter of the Year, Most Played Australian Work, Most Played Australian Work Overseas, International Work of the Year, Country Work of the Year, Blues & Roots Work of the Year, Urban Work of the Year, Dance Work of the Year and Rock Work of the Year.

The winners will be announced at the APRA Awards on Tuesday June 21 at Sydney’s Carriageworks complex.

As part of their worldwide tour, melbourne lads The Temper Trap are bringing their sweet dispositions back to Australia and New Zealand in July 2010.

The boys will be playing dates in Sydney, Melbourne, Perth and Auckland, so I guess thats a big miss out for Brisbane and Adelaide. Poor bastards miss out on everything.

2010 is already shaping up to be a busy one, with The Temper Trap currently on tour across America.  Conditions is sitting at #4 on the Billboard Heatseeker chart, while some of the biggest radio stations in the USA have set Sweet Disposition to high rotation.  The buzz around the band is audible with a sold out six week US tour and appearances at SXSW, Coachella and Bonnaroo sure to earn the band even more supporters.  Notably US music industry bible Billboard Magazine profiled the band in a double page ‘Happening Now’ feature in their February 20 issue, noting “The Temper Trap are shaping up to be the next big thing from Down Under,” as well as nameing them one of the Top 20 Artists To Watch at SXSW.

The UK story also continues to grow from their Top Ten hit with Sweet Disposition last year, with the band selling over 33,000 tickets to their UK tour, including an impressive three nights at Shepherds Bush Empire.  The band are also headlining the Wireless Festival, as well as performing at T In The Park and Roskilde festivals.

Pre-sale tickets will be available via frontiertouring.com from noon AEDT Thursday 25 March to noon AEDT Friday 26 March.

The Temper Trap Hit Gold

Posted in Australian Artists, News with tags , on December 25, 2009 by keelykov

The Temper Trap

Australia’s much-loved sons The Temper Trap have capped off a magical year with their debut album Conditions this week reaching GOLD status in Australia.

This follows the recent Gold certification of Conditions in the UK, where The Temper Trap have now sold over 100,000 copies.

Adding to these achievements, the band’s Sydney show at The Enmore Theatre has now officially sold out.

The Melbourne-born, London-based, four-piece have had an incredible 2009, winning rave reviews for Conditions both locally and internationally, and gathering a strong, devoted following in the process.

This year has seen the boys conquering the charts the world over, earn four ARIA nominations, and currently featuring prominently in the year’s Best Of lists.

Conditions was voted the #2 album of the year by Triple J listeners and featured in the Top 10 Albums of the Year by respected music journalists at The Age, the Sunday Herald Sun and The Daily Telegraph (with more to follow).

The Temper Trap was also crowned ‘Best Band of the Year’ by Sydney’s Sun-Herald.

Returning home for Christmas, The Temper Trap are soon to hit the Aussie Summer festival circuit, with the band set to showcase their mind-blowing live show at the Falls Festivals, Southbound, Sunset Sounds, and on the Big Day Out tour.
