Rock lord JACK WHITE has announced he will hit the road for two headline shows in Melbourne and Sydney this July while in the country as part of Splendour In the Grass.

Jack White has helmed some of the world’s most venerable musical outfits including The White Stripes, The Raconteurs and The Dead Weather.

The multitalented musician, eminent producer and successful label owner has taken home nine Grammys in seven different categories, proving his versatility and prowess within all endeavours.

Jack White’s live show only adds to the sense of awe and reverence felt toward the Nashville resident. Those who made it into the showcase of White’s label Third Man Records during SXSW were treated to revamped hits as well as new material from his debut solo album Blunderbuss.

Australia’s favourite rockabilly darling LANIE LANE will be joining Jack White on tour, having received his endorsement in the early stages of her career when she took him up on his offer to produce and release the single ‘Aint Hungry’ for Third Man Records.

The White Stripes break up

What’s red and white and covered in tears? A White Stripes fan who’s worst fears have just been confirmed – Meg and Jack are going their separate ways. It’s true; The White Stripes are breaking up.

Bursting out of Detroit in 1997, The White Stripes brought a new energy back to rock n roll. Combining grunge, country and good-old fashioned rockabilly, our favourite ex-couple Meg and Jack White sunk further into our hearts with each new release. And now the dream is over.

The band posted the following statement on their website overnight:

The White Stripes would like to announce that today, February 2nd, 2011, their band has officially ended and will make no further new recordings or perform live.

The reason is not due to artistic differences or lack of wanting to continue, nor any health issues as both Meg and Jack are feeling fine and in good health.

It is for a myriad of reasons, but mostly to preserve What is beautiful and special about the band and have it stay that way.

Meg and Jack want to thank every one of their fans and admirers for the incredible support they have given throughout the 13 plus years of the White Stripes’ intense and incredible career.

Third Man Records will continue to put out unreleased live and studio recordings from The White Stripes in their Vault Subscription record club, as well as through regular channels.

Both Meg and Jack hope this decision isn’t met with sorrow by their fans but that it is seen as a positive move done out of respect for the art and music that the band has created. It is also done with the utmost respect to those fans who’ve shared in those creations, with their feelings considered greatly.

With that in mind the band have this to say:

“The White Stripes do not belong to Meg and Jack anymore. The White Stripes belong to you now and you can do with it whatever you want. The beauty of art and music is that it can last forever if people want it to. Thank you for sharing this experience. Your involvement will never be lost on us and we are truly grateful.”

Sincerely,
Meg and Jack White
The White Stripes

No, that’s not a tear in my eye, it’s a bug. Damn bugs.

But seriously, this is an emotional time, after six studio albums, countless live shows, a documentary and one very disturbing are they aren’t they related rumour, to lose The White Stripes will be like losing a limb. We are all now James Franco.

God speed old friends, God Speed.

RIP White Stripes

Jack White pours the love on Meg

White Stripes

Jack White has defended his ex-wife/sister/drumming lady Meg White, against nay-sayers in a recent article in the New York Post,

“Her femininity and extreme minimalism are too much to take for some metal heads and reverse-contrarian hipsters,” Jack says. “She can do what those with ‘technical prowess’ can’t. She inspires people to bash on pots and pans. For that, they repay her with gossip and judgment. In the end she’s laughing all the way to the Prada handbag store. She wins every time.”

When I get married, and then divorced, I hope my ex-husband is just as rad as Jack.
