BAIO cancels Sleigh Bells’ Aus shows

Posted in Gigs, International Artists, News with tags , , , on January 5, 2011 by keelykov

The Frontier Touring Company has announced the withdrawal of BAIO (Vampire Weekend) from Sleigh Bells’ January 2011 Sydney and Melbourne shows due to flight complications from the US.

One of the East Coast’s worst ever blizzards has put a halt to a number of flights from New York and any surrounding areas. These complications are totally unforeseen and both The Frontier Touring Company and BAIO have gone to every possible extent to make the tour go ahead as planned. Unfortunately all attempts were in vain.

Sleigh Bells will be joined by Melbourne five-piece Rat Vs Possum and infamous indie party-starters the Purple Sneakers DJs and this much anticipated show is sure to thrill.

Sleigh Bells will appear in Melbourne at the Prince Bandroom on Friday 7th January and in Sydney at The Forum on Saturday 8th January. Tickets available now!

Sleigh Bells announce 2011 headline shows

Posted in Gigs, International Artists, News, Tours with tags , , , , on October 5, 2010 by keelykov

Sleigh Bells have announced they will perform two headline shows January 2011 in Melbourne and Sydney.

Amidst numerous attempts to classify their sound, one thing is for sure – Sleigh Bells are unabashedly, irresistibly loud. Producer Derek Miller’s synth-heavy beats and pounding riffs are undeniable, complemented and perfectly off-set by Alexis Krauss’ melodic chants to form a sound that is genre-less; a melting pot of music that is distinctively Sleigh Bells.

Sleigh Bells headline show will also feature a DJ set from Vampire Weekend’s Chris Baio, performances from Sydney’s electronic newcomers Seekae and sets from indie party-starters the Purple Sneakers DJs.

Vampire weekend’s Chris Baio announces intimate dj sets

Posted in Gigs, News, Tours with tags , on May 3, 2010 by keelykov

In a last minute announcement, Vampire Weekend bassist Chris Baio will be performing some of his infamous DJ sets at intimate venues around the country for the first time ever.

While the band are here for their national tour at some of the country’s biggest live music venues including Groovin The Moo festival, Baio has taken the opportunity to get down and dirty with fans in a more personal setting following some of the band’s performances.

His notorious sets are said to be mind-bogglingly eclectic, covering anything from Afrobeat to indie rock, nu-wave to cutting-edge pop.

This is a rare opportunity to get up close and personal with one of the decade’s most acclaimed musicians. Don’t miss out.

Tickets to the second Melbourne and second Sydney Vampire Weekend shows are still available – all other Vampire Weekend headline shows are sold out.

Vampire Weekend upgrade venues AKA: More Tickets Available!

Posted in Tours with tags on March 3, 2010 by keelykov

Due to overwhelming demand and exceptionally quick sales for both the second shows in Melbourne and Sydney, The Frontier Touring Company are upgrading the venues to accommodate extra fans of Vampire Weekend.

Younger Melbourne fans of the indie chart-toppers will be delighted to know that the Palace Theatre show scheduled for Wednesday 5 May moves to Festival Hall and is now a licensed All Ages show. The first Melbourne show at Palace Theatre remains an 18+ event.

The Sydney show on Thursday 13 May moves from the Enmore Theatre to the larger Hordern Pavilion and remains an All Ages concert.

Previously purchased tickets for both second shows will still be valid and ticketing details for the new venues can be found below.

The anticipation for Vampire Weekend’s upcoming Australasian tour continues to build, the latest buzz being the release of a tennis themed music video for their next single ‘Giving Up The Gun’.

A quirky and fun accompaniment to what Pitchfork have called sophomore studio album Contra’s  “most sellable song,” the video features cameos from Jake Gyllenhaal, Lil’ Jon, RZA from the Wu-Tang Clan and Joe Jonas of the Jonas Brothers.

Both the first and second shows for Melbourne and Sydney sold out in mere minutes and new tickets for these upgraded venues are sure to follow trend.

Mark down the pre-sale and on-sale dates below and get ready to pounce on tickets; despite the upgraded capacity of these new venues, the immense popularity of Vampire Weekend is more than likely to surpass ticket availability.

Frontier Touring members pre-sale starts Tuesday 9 March at 12 noon AEDT. General on-sale tickets for the new venues will be available from Friday 12 March, 9am local time. Remaining tickets to the Adelaide and Perth shows are on sale now.

Vampire Weekend announce national freakin tour!

Posted in International Artists, News, Tours with tags on February 5, 2010 by keelykov

YEW! hold on to your vintage hats and exploding cod pieces! Vampire Weekend are back and will be pleasuring audiences with a series of headline shows across Australia and New Zealand in April/May in addition to their Groovin’ The Moo performances.

The band initially made their mark on the music scene through their immense online success at a time when the term ‘internet sensation’ was relatively unheard of. After dominating online audiences, they released their hotly anticipated self-titled debut in 2008, cementing their arrival to indie rock. Their sharp, witty lyrics intermingled with African inspired beats guided them toward the forefront of the genre and the band quickly escalated to global fame.

After a top-secret fan club show in Sydney last year and a special Triple J performance, 2010 sees Vampire Weekend touring more extensively in support of their latest album Contra released just last month. The album has thus far been received positively by music lovers and critics alike. It debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200 chart and has been in the ARIA Top Ten Albums for the past three weeks.

Frontier Touring members pre-sale starts Thursday 18 February, Noon AEDT. General on-sale tickets available from Monday 22 February, 9am local time.
